The Catalyst began as the official student newspaper of the College at Old Westbury / SUNY Old Westbury in March 1973. The Catalyst represents the interests of the student body of the college and is an instrument for dissemination of news and information that is basically campus oriented but does include opinions and reviews about events and issues off campus. It is run completely by students with one faculty advisor who maintains authority in matters of potential legal liability.
